Welcoming Maria Lindebæk Lyngsøe
We are pleased to welcome Maria Lindebæk Lyngsøe as a postdoc to the research centre. She holds a PhD in the Study of Religion from the University of Copenhagen.
Framing Islam: Islamic Art for Interior Decoration
The Islamic art scene in Scandinavia is developing, and a scroll through Instagram reveals that this also pertains to art for interior decoration. As the Muslim middle and upper classes grow, the interest in decorating domestic environments of certain aesthetic and Islamic standards is also increasing, as are the production and sale of products that can meet demands for decorating domestic environments of certain aesthetic and Islamic standards. Throughout, the project will investigate how art production and consumption relate to Islamic visual culture, Muslim notions of piety and pious lifestyles, as well as market ideologies and consumer culture.
Maria Lindebæk Lyngsøe will start at the Department of Cross-cultural and Regional Studies on 1 December 2024.
